When the DTR is not in use:
When your DTR (Digital Television Recorder) is not being used, then we recommend that you leave it in standby. The DTR will still make all of your planned recordings whilst it is in standby. Please do not leave the DTR turned off at the mains at any time, as the DTR downloads Top Up TV Anytime programmes throughout the night as well as at some times during the day.
What do I need to do to return my Top Up TV+ DTR?
If you need to return your Top Up TV+ DTR, either for a replacement if faulty, or for a refund, you must firstly call 08444 159 159 and Top Up TV will send you a returns slip in the post. Once this is received, you need to take your Top Up TV+ DTR (in it's original packaging if you have it, or if not, suitably packaged so that it is not damaged on the journey) and returns slip, to any post office. The post office will return it to Top Up TV (the postage will already have been paid by Top Up TV). If your DTR was faulty, once your DTR has been received by Top Up TV a new one will then be sent out. It will take about a week to receive your new DTR once the old one has been taken to the post office. If you are sending your box back because you no longer want the service any monies owed to you will be refunded once the DTR has been received by Top Up TV.
How to make the best use of your Guide.
There are many ways to navigate around the Guide. Try some of the following:
When you are in the Guide, press the Top Up TV button on your Remote Control to access your Top Up TV Anytime programming.
When using the Guide facility, you can use the Channel + and – buttons to page up and page down instead of scrolling through all of the channels.
You can jump forward 24 hours on the Guide by using the >> button, and the << button to go back again.
Do you want to know what Top Up TV programmes are being recorded each day? If you jump forward 24 hours on the Guide and then select the Top Up TV button. The summary box that appears for each channel will show you which programmes are being downloaded for that channel on that night.
When using the Guide, you can input the channel number (eg 17 UKTV Gold) to go directly to the listings for that channel.
You have 14 days worth of TV Listings on your Top Up TV Anytime DTR! Just select the Guide button to view all channel listings. Use the arrow keys to move around, and you can plan and set your recordings up to 14 days ahead.
When you are in the Guide, use the Green button (Go to day), to go straight to any day of the 14 day listings that you want to see.
Customise your viewing to only receive the Top Up TV Anytime programmes that you want.
Select just the channels you want to receive programmes from, and not those that you don’t. This will free up more space on your DTR for your own recordings. To do this, select Menu, Setup, Customise Top Up TV Anytime. Make sure that the channels that you want to view programming from are ticked, and untick any that you don’t want.
Using your Remote Control to work your TV as well.
You can use the Remote Control provided with your DTR to work your TV. To set this up, first press the TV button. It will flash to show it’s been selected. Then press the OK and AV buttons both at the same time until the TV button flashes twice. Then, enter the four digit TV code that relates to your Television, that is shown on the sheet that was sent with your DTR. When you enter this code correctly, this will be signified by a double flash of the TV button. Some TV manufacturers have several different codes, so you will need to try them all until the TV button flashes twice. Once you have done this, press the Mute button to make sure your TV is accepting the Remote signals.
Watching Programmes from your Library:
When you are watching a programme from your Library of content, and press the Stop button, when you next go to that programme, you can use the Green button (Resume) to start the programme from where you left off.
Recording Programmes:
There are several ways of recording programmes on your Top Up TV Anytime DTR.
Whilst a programme is recording, press and hold the Record button ® button until the red button lights up on the front of your DTR. The programme is then being recorded.
Through your Guide. Go onto the programme that you want, and press either the Record or Red Button (Record), and then add to list (Red button).
Whilst watching TV, press the down arrow key to pull up the Now and Next bar. You can then view the now and next programmes for any channel. If you press Record whilst on any of these programmes, the Top Up TV Anytime box will then record that programme.
Go into the Planned Recordings menu, and go to the top. You can select the Green button (Programme Timer). This shows a box with the channels listed in it. You can set manual recordings here, if you want to part-record programmes. This option is useful if a programme, such as a football match, is likely to over-run, or start late because the programme before it over-runs.
Recording a Whole Series of Programmes:
The DTR has a feature called ‘Series Link’. This enables you to record a whole series, where the channel provider has ‘linked’ the programmes. You choose a programme to record and, where available, the DTR will automatically ask you if you want to record just that programme or the whole series. Note that only the next programme to be recorded will show in your planned recordings.
Start Watching a Programme before it’s finished recording!
You don’t have to wait until the end of a recording to start watching it. Use the Menu button, select Planned Recordings and use the Red button to Watch from Start.
Cancelling or Stopping Recordings:
If you want to cancel or stop a programme that you are recording, go into the Programme Library, and press the delete (Blue) button whilst on the programme that you want to stop. This will give you the option to delete it completely, or keep the part that you have already recorded.
Fast Forward or Rewind Recorded or Live Programmes!
Just like a DVD, you can fast forward either live or recorded programmes. This can be done at different speeds. Keep pressing the fast forward button to go forward faster.
Using the Menu Screens:
Occasionally your box may receive messages. These will be for information, or to alert you of a recording issue. To view the message, go to the Menu button, Setup, Messages. Use the arrow keys to scroll between them, and press OK to view the message.
When using the Menu screens, the quickest way to go to the screens you want is to use the number keys on your Remote Control to select the option that you want. So, for Setup, press the number 4 button.
Setting up Favourite Channels:
You can choose your favourite channels, and they will always then show at the top of your Guide.
To set these up, choose Guide and then the Blue button (favourites). Use OK to select the channels that you want to view. Once you have set your favourites up, you can select the blue button to just see the TV listings of your favourite channels.
To amend your favourites, go into Menu, Setup then select the Red button (Advanced Menu), and then select option 8.
