What to do: If you have a Blank Screen or No Signal Icon

Blank Screen /No signal icon (refer to all box types)

If you find you are getting the small ‘no signal’ icon at the top of the screen along with a blank screen then this is consistent with a no signal or a temporary loss of signal condition via your aerial.

This can be a localised issue (local transmitter issue) or a problem with your DTR initial set-up. If you have a non permanent aerial, a communal aerial or signal booster you need to ensure that the aerial is correctly positioned and the booster is correctly installed and powered on.

Once this is confirmed and you if you still have an issue please try the following steps to resolve:-

Check all DTR Connections:

Put the DTR into standby and then turn the power to the DTR off.

Ensure that the black aerial cable is firmly connected to the Aerial In socket on the rear of the DTR.

Check that all connections including the cream/grey RF block or the black RF loop cable are installed on the rear of the DTR.

Check the SCART cable is firmly located in the TV SCART socket.

Turn the power to the DTR back on and switch the DTR back on.

Check if you have a picture on BBC1,QVC and the channel you previously had the no signal condition.

If you can now see the channels then it was probably a connectivity issue.

If still having a problem then perform a rescan as detailed below:-

       Press the menu button.

Scroll down to OPTION 4 and press OK

Select OPTION 1, scan for channels, and press OK.

Press the green button to start a channel scan.

After a few minutes your DTR will complete a search for frequencies, programmes and Top Up TV channels (for a total of approx 117 channels).

On completion you can check the number of channels found by:

       Press the menu button.

Scroll down to OPTION 4 and press OK.

Select option 6, Help and press OK.

Check line 8 for number of channels found.

Digital Reboot Procedure (DRP):-

If the issue is not with signal reception then the condition may be resolved by a DRP (Digital Reboot Procedure).

Put the box onto standby mode.

Remove the viewing card from the box.

Remove the power from the back of the box.

Leave it like this for about 30 seconds.

Re-insert the card ensuring it is reinserted the correct way up.

       Re-apply the power.

Allow the box to reboot then check the channels, which were displaying a blank screen.
