What to do: Your box is stuck on standby
Stuck
on Standby - G1 Thomson Boxes (if unable to access the menus)
We
would advise trying the following procedures which should help get your DTR off
standby.
Stuck
on standby procedure one - Software Revert - If unable to enter menu
• Remove
the power from the back of the DTR for 10 seconds.
• Re-apply
the power and press and hold the standby button on the front of the box.
• As
soon as you see an amber light (typically within 5 seconds) release the standby
button and immediately press the Menu button followed by the OK button.
• The box
will now reboot (using the previous version of software) and show a steady red
light after about 90 seconds.
• From here
you might be able to take the box of standby.
• To once
again have the DTR running with the latest version of software, perform the
following sequence: -Menu, Set-up, Help, press the Green then Yellow then Green
buttons on your remote control.
If this does not work then you can try
the second option which may be more effective if done carefully.
Stuck on Standby procedure two - Reformat Hard drive - If unable to
enter menu
• Remove
the power from the back of the DTR for 10 seconds.
• Re-apply
the power and press and hold in the standby button on the front of the box.
•
As soon as you see an amber light
(typically within 5 seconds) release the standby button and immediately press
front panel buttons in this sequence:
Up arrow, Down arrow, Left arrow, Right arrow keys. You should then see a light
‘wink’ very briefly, indicating your ‘command’ has been accepted.
• The
box will now reboot and show a steady red light after about 60 seconds.
• At
this point the library will be cleared and you will have no saved recording.
• Rescan
channels to re-install the TopUp TV software.
Please be aware that as these
procedures are tricky (need nimble fingers) this procedure might take 2 or 3
attempts to be successful.
Stuck
on Standby - Thomson G2 boxes
Procedure
1 - Software Revert (Thomson G2) - If unable to enter menu
We are sorry to hear you are having issues
with your DTR. Please complete the following procedure, which should resolve
this.
(Continuously
slow flashing red LED)
•
Unplug the mains power or
switch off your DTR at the wall socket.
•
Wait 5 seconds.
▪
Restore the power while
pressing and holding the front panel power button for 10 seconds, all 4 LED's
will light up for 3 seconds.
•
Wait 45 seconds for the DTR
to complete the reset procedure.
•
The box should
automatically display a TV channel when completed.
Procedure 2 - Factory
reset/Reformat (Thomson G2) - If unable to enter
menu
We are sorry to hear you are having
issues with your DTR. Please complete the following procedure, which should
resolve this.
(Solid red LED)
IMPORTANT:
This procedure will delete ALL files in the library (personal recordings
AND TV Favourites downloads) and that the TV Favourites downloads will take
between 24 - 48 hours to recommence.
•
Unplug the mains power or
switch off your DTR at the wall socket.
•
Wait 5 seconds.
•
Restore the power while
pressing and holding the front panel MENU button for 10 seconds.
•
Wait 45 seconds for the DTR
to complete the reset procedure.
•
The DTR should
automatically display the installation screen and then follow the on screen
instructions.
Collective
procedure for Vestel boxes - Stuck on Standby
Procedure
1 - Software Revert (Vestel) - If unable to enter menu
We are sorry to hear you are having
issues with your DTR. Please complete the following procedure, which should
resolve this.
(Solid
red LED, no display)
•
Unplug the mains power or
switch off your DTR at the wall socket.
•
Wait 5 seconds.
•
Restore the power while
pressing and holding the front panel power button for 5 seconds.
•
PLS WAIT and then REVERT
will be displayed.
•
Wait 45 seconds for the DTR
to complete the reset procedure.
•
The box should
automatically display a TV channel when completed.
Procedure 2 - Factory
reset/Reformat (Vestel) - If unable to enter menu
We are sorry to hear you are having
issues with your DTR. Please complete the following procedure, which should
resolve this.
(Solid red LED and PLS WAIT
continuously displayed)
IMPORTANT:
This will restore settings for your DTR to the factory default and also delete
all saved programmes from the internal storage.
•
Unplug the mains power or
switch off your DTR at the wall socket.
•
Wait 5 seconds.
•
Restore the power and wait
until the message 'PLS WAIT' disappears from the display.
•
Press the front panel power
button. Wait until 'FORMAT' message is displayed and then release the button.
•
The DTR should
automatically display the installation screen and then follow the on screen
instructions.
