I used to be able to copy recorded content to another device but since the software was updated to 3.59 it is copy protected

Our latest software incorporates copy protection. This is mandatory to protect Top Up TV content (the downloaded programmes).

There are circumstances under which the copy protection is still active even though it should not be - for example - when archiving Freeview content. These programmes can still be copied but only after you have played a Freeview recording (for example, something from the BBC) which switches off the protection. The protection will then remain off until another TUTV programme is played.
